The fastest growing segment of the AAPI population is older adults. There care an estimated 1.9 million AAPI older adults in the United States today, and by 2050, this population is projected to quadruple to 7.6 million.
Last week, the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA) delivered over 870 comments to the Administration for Community Living (ACL), asking ACL to require each State Plan on Aging to (1) increase language access and disaggregated collection of data, and to (2) strengthen service delivery to the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community by supporting community/ethnic-led organizations which currently do not receive support through the ACL for their important work.

It’s been nine months since the National Asian Pacific Center on Aging (NAPCA) started the technical assistance project with Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) and State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) grantees, which was enabled by a grant from the Administration for Community Living. From the start of the project, NAPCA has been busy creating culturally- and linguistically-appropriate Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) resources, training, and materials for SMP and SHIP grantees to help them better reach and serve limited English proficient (LEP) AAPI Medicare beneficiaries.
